Naughty Dog has announced that The Last of Us Part II Remastered will receive a free update on PlayStation 5 when the game launches for PC on April 3. The update brings new content to the game’s No Return mode, including additional playable characters, new maps, and trophies.
According to the game publisher’s blog, the update introduces four new maps to No Return, the roguelike survival mode first introduced in the PS5 remaster.
The new locations include Overlook, Seraphites’ Site, School, where Ellie and Dina fight the Washington Liberation Front (WLF), Streets, set in Seattle’s Hillcrest neighbourhood, and Nest, a recreation of the infected-overrun building that Abby fights through in Seattle: Day 2.

Two new but familiar characters are also being added to No Return: Bill, who features a Smuggler playstyle, and Marlene, who plays as a Risk-Taker.
Just a recap of who these characters are: Bill was a supporting character in the first instalment of the series, who committed suicide after killing his infected companion, Frank.
The other, Marlene, part of the Fireflies, was shot and killed by Joel in the ending scenes of The Last of Us Part I after she tried stopping him from carrying protagonist Ellie out of the hospital.
The PS5 update will also bring new trophies and bug fixes, all of which will be available through a free downloadable patch on April 3.
The upcoming PC release of The Last of Us Part II Remastered includes all the enhancements from the PS5 version, which launched in 2024. Players will have access to No Return, Guitar Free Play, and hours of developer commentary.
Naughty Dog claims to have optimized the game specifically for PC to add support for Nvidia DLSS 3 Super Resolution, AMD FSR 3.1 and FSR 4 upscaling and frame generation, and DirectStorage support for faster load times.
Players can adjust various graphical settings, including texture quality, volumetric effects, shadow quality, ambient occlusion, and reflections. VSync and framerate cap options are also available, including an uncapped framerate setting for Nvidia RTX 5090 GPU-packed towers.
Sony has confirmed that The Last of Us Part II Remastered on PC will feature an optional PlayStation Network (PSN) login. While not mandatory, players who log in will gain access to the PlayStation overlay and PSN trophies.
Additionally, Sony is offering incentives for sign-ins, including 50 in-game points that can be used to activate bonus features.
PC players who link their PSN account will also unlock an exclusive skin for Ellie. It features a jacket designed by Jordan A. Mun inspired by Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Naughty Dog’s upcoming PlayStation 5 game.
Naughty Dog president and director Neil Druckmann said the upcoming title could become the studio’s “wildest, most creative story yet.” He also mentioned that the game will deliver the emotional, character-driven storytelling that Naughty Dog is known for, alongside the “deepest gameplay” in the studio’s history.
The PC version’s release arrives just ahead of Season 2 of HBO’s adaptation of The Last of Us, which continues the story of Ellie and Joel.
HBO Max announced on Wednesday that the first season of The Last of Us will be available to stream in American Sign Language (ASL) starting March 31. This will allow fans to catch up on Season 1 ahead of the Season 2 premiere on April 13.
Series co-creators Druckmann and Craig Mazin have confirmed that the new season will reintroduce spores, the game’s infection mechanics that were omitted in Season 1.
