Hamster Kombat Season 2 is back with more than just gaming. The project has announced the introduction of a layer-2 blockchain. Hamster Network is on The Open Network (TON) to support Web3 games and decentralized applications.
The team has announced on X, “We are excited to report on the launch of Hamster Network – the first-ever gaming-focused Layer-2 blockchain built on TON!”

The network also said that it will provide fast and expandable infrastructure for decentralized apps and games that need it. Most importantly, it will do this for almost no cost per transaction, letting devs offer a fully Web3-enabled experience.
The team said, “Hamster Network will provide blazing-fast and scalable infrastructure for demanding decentralized apps and games. Crucially, it will enable this at negligible cost per transaction.”
Its smart contracts are fully compatible with TON, making it easy for developers to port their dApps. Hamster Network is driven by the Ton virtual machine. According to the team, all proof records from the Hamster Network are sent to the TON L1 to ensure its safety and non-centralization.
The start of Hamster Network is part of a larger plan to make Hamster Kombat more than just a game. The team said that Season 2 of the game would serve as the basis for an entertainment system called “Hamster Verse” that will be based on the characters from the Web3 game.
In addition, they said that the layer-2 network had been set up and was ready to go. It comes with a cryptocurrency wallet, a bridge, and a decentralized market (DEX). The team said that people who have a TON wallet can use the same address on the layer-2 network.
The people who developed Hamster Kombat built the network to solve problems that come up a lot in blockchain games. By building on TON, the company hopes to make Web3 gaming easier for Telegram’s huge user base, which is nearly a billion people around the world.
In retrospect, during Hamster Kombat season 1, about 63% of players were kicked out before the big event, which made people in the crypto community very angry. It was said that these players were kicked out because they were missing in-game keys.
The community felt cheated because players were first told that keys weren’t necessary to be eligible for the airdrop. The big surprise was finding out that collecting keys was necessary. Those who didn’t have enough did not get the airdrop.
For gamers who have been working hard to improve their Points Per Hour (PPH), the last-minute key requirement took away months of hard work. Many compared it to running a race and being kicked off at the finish line. Therefore, they vowed that they would not participate in Season 2.
HamsterVerse came out last week. It was supposed to be the start of Hamster Kombat: Season 2. Some of the tap-to-earn features are still there, but now you’re building a team of creators and making games, which all help you make more money. Telegram shows that Hamster Kombat has 11.5 million monthly active users. Will the 300m users from season 1 enrol?
The HMSTR token’s price hit an all-time low last Tuesday, coincidentally with the game’s launch. This was the complete opposite of what happened in season 1. Then, the token recorded its all-time high.
The price of HMSTR on the market right now is about $0.001693. This shows its recovery from last week, with small gains since the network release. Even though the price has recently gone up, the token is still trading at a 76% low from its all-time high. In general, the token has dropped by 35% in February.
The Community reaction has been cautiously positive. Users express excitement about the technical possibilities while remaining realistic about the challenges ahead. This shows uncertainty in the market. Therefore, the token is not expected to be as bullish as it was last season.
However, the team behind Hamster Kombat said that the coin will remain an important part of the Hamster ecosystem. This is because it fuels transactions, participation in governance, building trust in the network, and rewarding developers and active community members.
