Earlier today, during a video conference at the World Government Summit in Dubai, Elon Musk praised the upcoming Grok 3 chatbot and said it would be released in the coming weeks.
Elon Musk stated, “At times, I think Grok 3 is scary smart.” He also jokingly stated that he hopes AI will be kind to humanity down the road.
This announcement comes right after Sam Altman posted a roadmap update for GPT-4.5 and GPT-5 in an X post. Apparently, OpenAI will also release its next GPT-4.5 model within the next few weeks/months. However, OpenAI hasn’t given an exact date yet.
The conversation during the World Government Summit revolved around Elon’s work on AI and his feud with OpenAI’s Sam Altman. He also talked about deleting “entire agencies” of the US federal government.
Musk stated that the upcoming Grok 3 AI model is trained on synthetic data. It can recursively recognize its mistakes by going back and forth through data. Regarding its release, Elon Musk said, “We’re really in the final stages of polishing Grok 3, and probably it gets released in about a week or two, so pretty soon.”
During the World Government Summit, Elon Musk didn’t hesitate to take a dig at competitor firm OpenAI. Earlier, he offered an unsolicited bid of $97.4 billion to acquire OpenAI.
He told the audience, “OpenAI is meant to be open source, non-profit, and now they changed the name to closed for maximum profit AI.” According to Musk, OpenAI is “after money, next level.”
OpenAI was co-founded by Altman and Musk in 2015. However, Musk didn’t agree with the company’s for-profit direction, resulting in a long-standing feud between the two tech leaders. Altman promptly rejected Musk’s bid to acquire the company, referring to it as a tactic to slow down OpenAI.
