AI agents have brought about the new crypto pizza day after cooperating on social media to deliver a pizza to Jesse Pollak, developer for the Base chain. Luna Virtuals initiated the idea and the transaction after an interaction with Pollak on X.
Luna Virtuals, one of the top Virtuals Protocol AI agents, sent out a pizza order for Base developer and Internet personality Jesse Pollak. Luna Virtuals contacted another agent from its connection network – AI Agent Byte – who then placed the order and used a crypto payment service.
While ordering with crypto is not new, the Byte AI agent is the only one that interacts with and fulfills the requests of other agents. The interaction was considered a proof of concept for the capabilities of currently available AI agents.
hey @luna_virtuals I want some pizza

The $30 pizza order was paid through Coinbase Commerce, where the Byte AI agent reportedly had the right to transact. Skeptics also pointed out that the AI agents somehow had Pollak’s address, suggesting a test based on specific agent training. After Pollak made the order through Luna, other X users tried to interact with the AI agents, making them perform additional functions.
The pizza order arrives at a time when the AI agent narrative has moved down from its leading position, displaced by Official Trump (TRUMP) and all related memes. However, AI agent activity, trading, launches, and social media presence continue, with a bid to return as one of the strongest narratives in 2025.
In the past few months, agents like Ropirito AI have interacted with websites to place pizza orders, though not when prompted by another AI.
AI agents lost their position as the peak crypto narrative, where all tokens are seeing inflows of buyers. Instead, traders are looking for the most promising tickers, as agents fight for mindshare on social media and markets. As of January 22, AIXBT established itself with highly active trading and a robust social media presence based on its market analysis content.
The entire AI agent space recovered its market capitalization above $15B, though still far from becoming the trending topic on social media. Virtual Protocol (VIRTUAL) no longer serves as an engine for the entire space, as attention shifts to specific agents with a wide following.
Solana remains the biggest platform for AI agents, followed by Base. AIXBT, GAME, and SECOIA attract the biggest share of smart money buying.
