The White House has announced the appointment of Mark Uyeda as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) acting chair much to the surprise of some stakeholders.
In early December last year, the then President-elect Donald Trump reportedly picked pro-crypto Paul Atkins as the new chair for the SEC to replace Gary Gensler, after he announced his intentions to step down.
Some enthusiasts following the news believe the selection of Uyeda as the acting chair “signals priority shift” at the regulator while others strongly believe he falls in line with Trump’s agenda of making crypto great again.
“Career expertise over political theater bodes well for market clarity,” commented Aiko on the X platform.
