Experts warn of AI risks escalating in 2025

The AI sector was on the top in 2024, pushing Nvidia forward and raising the company’s shares to 183% to briefly pass Apple as the most valuable company in the world. Experts and analysts are now discussing what will be in store for AI in 2025, and it’s not all cheery.

From groundbreaking technologies to energy crises, 2025 may bring along dramatic shifts in the AI landscape. Parapsychologist Athos Salome from Brazil, otherwise known as the “Living Nostradamus,” foresees a global event that will demonstrate that AI has unchecked autonomy in areas such as cybersecurity and transportation.

Let’s say Salome has a pretty eerie track record with her predictions, including the COVID-19 pandemic and Queen Elizabeth’s death.

Meanwhile, Stanford researchers predict 2025 will see a leap forward not to human-directed AI agents but to AI agents that arise independently without human input.

However, James Zou, a Stanford professor, has a more rational vision of an ‘AI plus human’ partnership aimed at improving reliability and performance. He said, “I’m particularly excited about the potential of hybrid collaborative teams where a human leads a group of diverse AI agents.”

AI will leave us held hostage by the electricity crisis

In TheStreet Pro post, hedge fund veteran Doug Kass warns that energy shortfalls are coming because AI data centers are straining power grids. As natural gas prices, utility costs, and public reaction to AI increase, Kass warns about AI-related taxes worth a lot of money.

According to Kass, “Nvidia’s ‘day in the sun’ abruptly ends, and the share price falls to between $50-$75 in a matter of days” due to the lack of a “killer app” or lucrative applications of generative AI.

Therefore, consumers will be pressured to “help corporations cut costs.” He says this transitional result will benefit tech integrators and harm Microsoft’s and other hyperscalers’ shares, such as Amazon and Meta.
