Latest and upcoming Google offering leaks on Chrome store

Google may have accidentally leaked its latest and upcoming consumer-facing AI model, although the market is now questioning if this was genuine or a deliberate move by the search engine giant.

The leak occurred through an unexpected listing on the Chrome Web Store involving an internal review of the project known as Jarvis. Jarvis, which reportedly was available briefly as a Chrome extension was accessible for downloads by users.

Google quickly removed the model from the store

Although it was removed from the Chrome Web Store with haste, the listing reportedly provided a glimpse into the project and what it is capable of achieving.

According to the listing on the page, Jarvis was described as “a helpful companion that surfs the web for you.” This has ignited conversations among potential users despite having little detail about the project and more on its offerings.

However, Google later confirmed the existence of Jarvis, its advanced AI, after the leaked documents were removed from the Google Cloud platform.

The leak happened only a few days after another tech company, OpenAI saw its o1 model leak, letting people know that the model can analyze images. The o1 model is also touted to be able to carry out web search and data analysis.

Jarvis’ supposed leak also comes a week after the ChatGPT Search release which is said to be close in similarity to the latest offering from Anthropic, which allows Claude to take control of a user’s computer through a series of updating screenshots.

According to The Information, Jarvis was due for an internal test before the public could access it, but the leak of it has fed the grapevine about how long until the public can officially access it, based on sources close to Google.

Google’s Jarvis takes care of mundane tasks

The leaked extension was non-functional for most users, although reports say that the AI model is a better version of a simple assistant. Jarvis is touted to be able to purchase products, book flights, and research information through self-interaction with the web among other tasks.

If frustrated many times with form filling, Jarvis will do all that for users, and without them clicking any websites, the AI will do the tasks on its own. The goal of Jarvis is to minimize time consumed through processes and let the user be occupied with more productive things.

The AI model’s ability to control and operate a computer makes it a generative development, especially as it feels like a true human assistant. The development also makes the AI model a springboard of future AI technology.

This model of AI is reportedly different from all the existing models that rely on pre-programmed responses or basic tasks. Jarvis is able to search the internet in real-time and execute commands instantly.

If you are one of those who get frustrated by scrolling over search engine results, then Jarvis is your tool as it is able to retrieve current data and allows one to bypass traditional search engines.

The development and abilities of Jarvis reportedly make it more versatile and dynamic, as it is an upgrade from the existing AI models out there.

Comparing Jarvis with Google peers

Google Assistant and Bard are AI tools already offered by Google and they are able to do the basic tasks and provide answers to tasks and questions based on pre-existing data.

But, looking at the latest model, Jarvis, technology comes to a whole new level as it combines the existing features and modifies them to be more precise and powerful.

With the use of the powerful Gemini language model and web browsing capabilities, Jarvis becomes a man among boys in the generative AI tools industry.

What separates Jarvis from the already existing technology is that instead of using pre-programmed answers, it gathers real data on the internet and provides up-to-date information acting as a real-time assistant.

Powered by Google’s Gemini 2.0 language model, Jarvis can understand natural language and perform tasks based on user input.
