According to SteamDB, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Activision’s game, released on October 25, 2024, ascended to the top of Steam’s global revenue charts. The latest installment in the renowned Call of Duty franchise, developed by Treyarch, quickly rose to the number one position for the week between October 29 and November 5. The game’s top position came after it claimed the tenth spot for the week of 15 Oct — 22 October 2024, several days before its official release.

Counter-Strike 2 continued its strong run since its 2012 release. The competitive shooter game dropped one position and held onto the 2nd spot for the second week running. Valve’s free-to-play shooter continued thriving with gamers, stating that it was propped up by its robust in-game purchases and loyal player base.

Bioware’s Dragon Age: The Veilguard capped off the top three spots on Steam’s list after its recent release on October 31st. The fantasy RPG quickly climbed the list, heralding an impressive debut.

Throne and Liberty, a free MMORPG game developed by NCSoft and released on October 1st, was fourth on Steam’s weekly revenue charts. The MMORPG’s impressive debut has seen it gain mostly positive reviews on Steam within the last month, as well as comparisons to Guild Wars 2, a predecessor developed by NCSoft.

Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds pulled a surprise by grabbing the fifth spot despite only being released on beta between November 1st and November 4th.

New entries dominate the top spots on Steam’s list

The list developed by SteamDB shows that new games have left their mark, grabbing several of the top spots. The top 5 positions were dominated by new releases that came out in October, with these games taking up 4 out of the 5 spots.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (October 25th), Dragon Age: The Veilguard (October 31st), Throne and Liberty (October 1st), and Monster Hunter Wilds (November 1st) reflected the gamers’ enthusiasm surrounding fresh content and indicated the impact of popular franchises returning with updated installments.

Monster Hunter Wilds performance was even more impressive due to the game not being officially released. The action RPG game developed by Capcom managed an impressive performance ahead of its official release, slated for February 25th, 2025. With many gamers responding favorably to the game’s beta release and its player count peaking at 463,798 on November 1st, it became one of the most anticipated games of 2025.
