Since its release on August 19th, 2024, Black Myth: Wukong has become a fan-favorite RPG game around the world. The digital release resulted in the game having a record-breaking run that brought in over $1 billion in revenue from its much-speculated $43 million budget.

The game’s recent success caused gamers from all around the world to call for a disc version.

Developer announces Black Myth disc version release details

Game Science officially announced that the master disc for Black Myth: Wukong is ready, and, as a result, the game’s PS5 physical edition will be soon. However, the post failed to expound on what content or version of the game will be included in the disc, much to the disappointment of many gamers.

Gamers did not have to wait for long, as within a few hours, an insider post revealed the game’s release dates for the US and Europe.

According to @billbil_kun, the disc versions of the disc for Black Myth: Wukong will be released on October 21 in the US and will be available at $64.99. The post also stated that the game’s disc release in Europe will be coming “very soon” for 69,99€.

Under the post, billbil_kun responded to several users who sought to confirm more details about the announced disc release. Billbil_Kun response prompted more users to ask questions in an attempt to get more details.

When asked whether the game will be physical and whether its availability is either directly or via retailers, Billbil_Kun stated that the game has a physical copy that will be available through multiple retailers. Billbil_Kun also stated that PM studios in the US will act as the manufacturer info/physical distributor. For Europe, it is still unknown.

The user also responded with “Nothing I can see” when asked about a release for Xbox.

Gamers react to Game Science’s announcement

After Game Science was announced, gamers took to the internet to express their reactions. Most opinions were positive, with many players thanking the developer for heeding their call for Black Myth: Wukong’s physical edition. Most gamers stated that they were happy since they had been waiting to buy the physical disc rather than the digital copy.

Another camp of gamers noted that a physical release was pointless, given that the game has been available for a while now.

Players of the game went on to speculate about many aspects related to the content included in the game and its availability on other platforms. According to them, Game Science should aim to include as much content as possible on the disc. The gamers also wondered if DLC content will be included in the game’s disc version.

Many other gamers commented that they would like it if the developer considered having a digital version for platforms such as Xbox.
