It Takes Two has sold 20 million copies. The co-on adventure game achieved this milestone 3 and half years following its launch.

The announcement was shared on the Hazelight Studios X account.

The game was launched in March 2021 on PC, Xbox, and Playstation. It also got a Switch release in November 2022. In the month after its launch, the game had already achieved 1 million copies. After that, the count has been steadily increasing.

In March of 2024, It Takes Two achieved sales of 16 million copies. This could happen due to positive critical praise and word of mouth which continued for years after its release.

It Takes Two was on sale multiple times as well. Currently, it’s just $10 USD  from the original price of $40 USD on the PlayStation Store.

The Metascore of the game is 88 on Metacritic and 8.9 user score. Moreover, it was the Game of the Year which also won The Best Family Game and Multiplayer Game at the Game Awards in 2021.

Adding more to its fame it also won a Bafta for Multiplayer Game and Original Property, a Golden Joystick for Best Multiplayer Game, a GDC award for Best Design, and again Game of the Year with Outstanding Achievement in Game Design in DICE Awards.

Amazon Studios is currently at work making the film adaptation with Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock as the producer.
