Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 1.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML), which rose 6.99% or 43.90 points to trade at 671.60 at the close. BE Semiconductor Industries NV (AS:BESI) added 5.06% or 5.65 points to end at 117.25 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 3.93% or 0.89 points to 23.51 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd), which lost 0.63% or 0.10 points to trade at 14.87 in late trade. Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN) declined 0.51% or 0.02 points to end at 3.54 and Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG) gained 0.04% or 0.01 points to 24.61.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 86 to 16 and 7 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 21.09.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.13% or 0.09 to $68.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.18% or 0.13 to hit $72.41 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.25% or 6.50 to trade at $2,580.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.03% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 106.50.
