Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Real Estate and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Gerdau SA Pref (BVMF:GGBR4), which rose 9.61% or 1.75 points to trade at 19.96 at the close. Metalurgica Gerdau SA (BVMF:GOAU4) added 8.86% or 0.92 points to end at 11.30 and Pet Center Comercio e Partcipacoes (BVMF:PETZ3) was up 6.26% or 0.34 points to 5.77 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Atacadao SA (BVMF:CRFB3), which lost 3.63% or 0.28 points to trade at 7.44 in late trade. B3 SA Brasil Bolsa Balcao (BVMF:B3SA3) declined 3.01% or 0.33 points to end at 10.64 and Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (BVMF:CSNA3) shed 2.85% or 0.35 points to 11.94.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 474 to 473 and 55 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.57% to 37.40 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 2.86% or 78.55 to $2,671.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.11% or 0.08 to hit $71.91 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.33% or 0.82 to trade at $249.33 .
USD/BRL was down 1.32% to 5.68, while EUR/BRL fell 3.05% to 6.09.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.59% at 104.97.
