Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Financials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.59%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Lotus Bakeries (EBR:LOTB), which rose 2.84% or 340.00 points to trade at 12,300.00 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 2.19% or 0.54 points to end at 25.24 and UCB SA (EBR:UCB) was up 1.56% or 2.80 points to 182.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB), which lost 6.59% or 2.50 points to trade at 35.45 in late trade. Warehouses de Pauw Comm VA (EBR:WDPP) declined 3.92% or 0.84 points to end at 20.60 and Umicore SA (EBR:UMI) shed 3.30% or 0.37 points to 10.83.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 68 to 23 and 20 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 2.66% or 73.05 to $2,676.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.11% or 0.08 to hit $71.91 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.38% or 0.29 to trade at $75.24 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.84% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP fell 0.72% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.68% at 105.06.
