Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Retail, Food&Beverages and Pharmaceuticals&Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.92%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.80%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.87%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p), which rose 2.44% or 5.80 points to trade at 243.50 at the close. Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) added 2.08% or 0.78 points to end at 38.31 and BASF SE NA O.N. (ETR:BASFN) was up 2.04% or 0.91 points to 45.56 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe), which lost 1.32% or 0.50 points to trade at 37.51 in late trade. Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn) declined 0.83% or 2.00 points to end at 239.50 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (ETR:VOWG_p) shed 0.49% or 0.44 points to 88.50.
The top performers on the MDAX were Scout24 AG (ETR:G24n) which rose 4.86% to 83.00, HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which was up 4.69% to settle at 10.60 and Puma SE (ETR:PUMG) which gained 3.11% to close at 43.08.
The worst performers were Deutsche Lufthansa AG (ETR:LHAG) which was down 2.96% to 6.17 in late trade, Befesa SA (ETR:BFSA) which lost 2.81% to settle at 20.76 and Knorr-Bremse AG (ETR:KBX) which was down 1.79% to 74.25 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which rose 2.44% to 243.50, Elmos Semiconductor AG (ETR:ELGG) which was up 1.82% to settle at 55.90 and Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) which gained 1.74% to close at 39.73.
The worst performers were SUSS MicroTec SE (ETR:SMHNn) which was down 3.45% to 53.10 in late trade, PNE Wind AG (ETR:PNEGn) which lost 1.52% to settle at 11.70 and SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 1.43% to 15.80 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 372 to 232 and 29 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 7.79% to 19.73 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.11% or 2.95 to $2,752.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.00% or 0.69 to hit $69.95 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.96% or 0.70 to trade at $73.51 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.30% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP fell 0.72% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 104.09.
