Greece shares lower at close of trade; Athens General Composite down 0.34%

Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Household and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite lost 0.34%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Piraeus Port (AT:OLPr), which rose 2.99% or 0.80 points to trade at 27.55 at the close. Hellenic Telecommunications Organization SA (AT:OTEr) added 1.61% or 0.25 points to end at 15.74 and Centric Hold (AT:DESr) was up 1.43% or 0.01 points to 0.35 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Interlife General Insurance Company SA (AT:INLIFr), which lost 5.09% or 0.25 points to trade at 4.66 in late trade. Elton S.A. (AT:ELNr) declined 3.17% or 0.05 points to end at 1.65 and Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr) shed 2.78% or 0.01 points to 0.35.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 76 to 46 and 19 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.83% or 22.15 to $2,681.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 3.14% or 2.14 to hit $70.31 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.97% or 2.13 to trade at $73.83 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.53% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.10% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 100.92.
